Posted by Steven Gaskill
The IT security industry is expected to perform well during the coming 12 months, according to experts.
A study carried out by research consultancy IDC claimed that the security and vulnerability management market will be the top performing sector in 2010, with growth of 19 per cent forecast.
In addition, the secure content and threat management market is tipped to grow by 18.4 per cent, while a 15.2 per cent expansion is predicted for the identity and access management sector.
Judy Wu, a research manager with IDC, commented: "The rise in the security market is fuelled by the increasingly sophisticated threats and management overheads facing each IT organisation."
The expert also pointed out that IT outsourcing users are facing a growing number of security threats, from sources such as unauthorised access to corporate networks, identity fraud and insider sabotages.
Javier Merchan, a spokesman for cloud-based security solutions company Panda Security, recently predicted that the amount of malware will grow significantly during 2010.
