Cybercrime affects 75% of firms, IT outsourcing users warned :: |
Posted by Steven Gaskill
IT outsourcing in London users have been warned that three-quarters of firms have been the victim of increasingly sophisticated cybercrime. The poll, published as part of Symantec's State of Enterprise Security 2010 report, revealed that 75 per cent of organisations experienced cyber attacks in the last 12 months, with the cost of these being an average of £1.3 million. According to the report, which surveyed over 2,100 companies of all sizes worldwide, hackers are using innovative ways to bypass security systems or simply taking advantage of firms which have no barrier in place. IT outsourcing users learned that 100 per cent of the businesses which were attacked suffered a loss of some form, with 92 per cent suffering financially and others losing intellectual property and confidential customer data. The report followed recent research conducted by Deloitte, which showed that cyber attacks and security breaches are increasing in frequency and sophistication and often going undetected. |
